TransCanada Three:
Literature, Institutions, Citizenship

Thursday Excursion, July 16th

Here's an overview of the three-hour tour we're planning:

*Bus will arrive on Rectory Lane (beside/behind Jennings Dining Hall) at 12:15pm, and will depart at 12:30pm. The bus will be back early enough for delegates to refresh and get ready for the opening ceremony and evening program of the conference.

  1. Woodcock (15 minute stop)
    • Tantramar marshes / Acadian dykes. This was Canadian poet G.D. Roberts's view of the marshes when he was writing “Tantramar Revisited."
  2. Highmarsh Road
    • This scenic road tour through the Tantramar marshes en route to Cape Jourimain, Port Elgin, will take you through the Weaton Covered Bridge. The bridge was built in 1916, and its architecture is typical of the region.
  3. Cape Jourimain (45 minute stop)
    • A perfect stop for a spectacular view of the Confederation Bridge and a visit to the interpretation centre to learn more about the centre's "green technologies."
    • Food Services and souvenir store on site.
