Doctoral Fellowships
The Institute offers two or three entrance awards (total $10,000) annually to the two or three top doctoral students admitted into the doctoral program of SETS. The award recipients are expected to work under the supervision of the Institute's Director and specialize in one or more of the following areas: Canadian literature and criticism; diasporic literatures in English Canada; postcolonial transnationalism and globalization theories; Canadian cultural policy; the cultural industries in Canada; and inter/disciplinary studies and the humanities.
No special application is required for this award. However, applicants to the Ph.D. program at the School of English and Theatre Studies, University of Guelph, who are interested in being supervised by the Institute's Director are expected to indicate in their Statement of Intent their interest in being affiliated with TransCanada Institute.
Value of Award:
$5,000 will be awarded to each of the two best students in the areas listed above admitted in a given year. If a third candidate is eligible, the funds available for this purpose will be divided equally into three awards. No single award will exceed $5,000.
Terms of Award:
The recipients of these awards will be affiliated with TransCanada Institute, and be expected to attend the various events sponsored by the Institute and participate, when appropriate, in these events.
